What kind of bike do I need to race BMX?

The answer to this is simple.  You own a bike right?  Perfect, cause that is all you need.  Any bike is concidered a BMX bike.  There are certain modifications that may need to be done to the bike (reflectors need to come off) but there is not a right or wrong when it comes to the type of bike.

How much does it cost to race BMX?

A 1 year membership costs $45 a year, but this is a bargin when you see what you get in return.  Along with being able to race any of the 275+ ABA tracks you also receive the monthly BMXer magizine which tracks you points and shows where you are in the standings.  You are also involved with all the yearly activities that we have as well.  Some of those include the annual YMCA party when we rent the whole Y for a private party.  We ride in the Gypsy Day parade and have free admission to all races.  Do the math and you will see that you get more than your money back when you become a member.

All race nights have a $5 reg. fee which is used for awards and insurance.  No rider is left out on the awards.  Just signing up on a race night gaurantees that you will receive at the least a trophy.

How and when can I sign up for BMX?

One of the coolest things about our program is that you can sign up any time of the year and you still receive a full year membership.  Unlike most team sports you can join the first race, last race, midseason, or offseason.  The BMX season in Aberdeen goes from May 1st through September.  Over forty events are scheduled each year and all you need to do is come to the track on practice nights or race nights and sign the membership form and your ready to ride!!!
